Truth Heals
By Deborah King
ISBN 0-97868-570-9, Influence Press
In a world where lies are an accepted part of life, it's easy to see why we live in a culture that's literally "dying for the truth." Most everyone I know who has had heart surgery suffered a broken heart at some point and tried to live with it instead of healing it. Deborah King not only shows you that the truth shall set you free, but she shows that it will also heal you by dismantling the lies we tell ourselves and that we are too afraid to admit. Through her own courageous journey of discovery, Deborah finds her way out of alcoholism and cancer by not hiding from her childhood sexual abuse and growing up and into the truth of who she is. If you're ready for truth, this is a good place to start.

Found this to be a good book on dealing with denial, especially when horrible things happen to you. But it's good for anyone who is in denial for anything. My only complaint is that I found some of her examples from her life a little to explicit for my taste. But that's just me. Also I would have like to have found out how the story ended about her relationship with her parents. Left me hanging, but I would recommend reading it.

This is an awesome book! I had originally heard Deborah King speak on Hay House Radio and was compelled to buy the book. I have taken my time to read it, deeply effected by her words, personal experiences, and perceptions. This is a truly "healing" book which brings a very pure and purifying experience. It's absolutely amazing! Deborah and her works are gifts of Grace.

I am glad that I purchased and read this book. I feel Deborah King is a phenomenal and gifted healer - that element of her current role in the world is not a core element of the book. What is a core element of the book is her own story of overcoming intense and ongoing abuse. It's a short book and a very simple book to read. I agree with other reviewers that feel the book contains principles, inspiration, or general guidelines to create a more genuine and happy self, but you need to be a bit of a self-starter and be able to generate change from principles and another's narrative; this is not a 1, 2, 3... step program. In that way the book is actually fairly complex and profound. For those people who suffered abuse as children or who were not loved by either or both of their parents, this book might be a breakthrough like none other. I am thankful for finding this book and do recommend it.

This is a very good book. I suggest that people from wounded backgrounds, especially sexual abuse victims, read this book. You could start your way on recovering from being wounded as a child. It starts with admitting what happened and forgiving yourself. You do not have to forgive the behavior of the person but carrying anger around for years can cause you all sorts of health problems. I enjoyed the book immensely, even though I was not a victim of sexual abuse, but mental and physical abuse. It has helped me open my heart and forgive myself and my parents.
